Maranatha begun as a branch of Nketa 8 church in July 1999 under the ministry of Pastor Mhlophe. On its inception church members gathered at Mrs Ndlovu's house for fellowship services. The first church officers were as follows

The church went to Solusi site for campmeeting services yearly. On the 12th of November 2004 Mranatha was ordained into a church by Pastor -------------. Since then brethren have been tirelesly working according the great commission of Mathew 28 vs 19,20, "Go ye there fore..." Maranatha today has a population of 1345.
